Thank you for your interest in volunteering with YHAA! Making a difference in someone's life can be achieved in many ways. Yolo Healthy Aging Alliance is looking for caring, passionate individuals to join a few of the programs we are offering for our older community members. Read on to learn how to apply to volunteer and what kinds of programs you can volunteer for.
WHAT PROGRAMS CAN YOU VOLUNTEER FOR?
Mobile Meals for Healthy Aging
For the mobile meals program, Yolo Healthy Aging Alliance visits lower-income senior housing in Yolo County, providing free hot meals for adults over 60 years old, disabled adults, and caregivers. As a volunteer, you would be interacting with older adults, helping to check in participants and hand out food.
YHAA Phone Friends
YHAA Phone Friends is a program aimed at helping seniors stay socially connected, ensuring that older adults have the resources they need. As a phone friend volunteer, you would be connected with an older adults, who will become your "phone friend." You will have regular social check-in calls with your phone friend
Senior Technological Assistance and Resources (STAR)
The STAR program pairs older adults with a digital tutor for eight weeks. Trainees receive a computer device and internet connection as part of the program.
Yolo Healthy Aging Alliance participates in various outreach events, where we interact with the community, providing outreach and education on issues related to health and wellness, emergency preparedness, and connection to resources.
